Nymburk has gone through a successful first night in the NLB League while outclassing Crvena Zvezda with a high difference 94:73.

CEZ Nymburk decided about the first victory in the second quarter, in which the whites build fifteen point advantage and kept on increasing the score difference. Nymburk entered the game being quite nervous and Crvena Zvezda got in to advantage. At the end of the quarter Czechs woke up and took the advantage on their side. In the second quarter perennial Czech champions improved on the defensive side of the game and let the opponent to score only 13 points during 10 minutes. They continued on keeping a good level of offense with its tonight heroes Nissim, Simmons and mainly Pumprla, who was with his 19 points the MVP of the game as well as the best shooter of the squad.

Zvezda did not try to defy in the second half and in the last quarter gave up on better
result for them. Nymburk climbed up to 28 point difference and lost the advantage by 7 points by not concentrating enough in the last seconds of the game.

Neno Ginzburg, headcoach Nymburk: We knew that first game on our homecourt the presure will be put on us. We wanted to start agresively and show that we are at home at that we belong to this competition. Unfortunatelly we did not start the game the way I wanted, we were soft and strugelling a bit. But then we started coming back to our game, we run fast and played good defense and that made the game easier for us.

Mihailo Uvalin, headcoach: I think that the game was very tough for us, especially because we had problems with rebound. In our club, we have a group of young people who dont have much experience nor in tough competition, nor in NLB League. These faces are new in the league and will need their time to adjust. We were picking hard shots instead of
shooting from easy positions and from fastbreaks. By that we were giving to our oponent chance to rebound and run to the offense. In some parts of the game we showed good game, but it is not enough, especially when we play away. I think we will have problems in away games this season, but in the home games I beleive in a support of our fans who can be sixth man on the court.

CEZ BASKETBALL NYMBURK



The perennial Czech champion CEZ Basketball Nymburk is about to start its debut in the NLB League this season and therefore go through a new experience. In the first round of the Adriatic region league will face “good old fellow” from previous seasons – Crvena Zvezda. The clubs will not meet for the first time since in the last couple of seasons they have faced each other already four times in Eurocup and once in the tournament in occasion of 80th birthday of Nymburks basketball. The history of official games (excluding the tournament one) is fifty – fifty for both teams, Nymburk won twice and lost twice as well. Although Nymburks power on the homecourt is an evidence in the last few years, the Czechs has lost both Eurocup games at home and surprisingly won both games in Pionir.

Nymburk changed almost all the foreigners over the summer, only Mike Lenzly remained from the last season. In the core of the crew from Czech Republic all Czech guys stayed and are expected to continue in great performance that they have been showing for couple of seasons.

“It will be our first official game in the nicely reconstructed arena and because of that there can be some ups and downs during the game. Even that, I am expecting a quality game from us and we are relying on our fans to make a good atmosphere.”, says Neno Ginzburg, the new headcoach of Nymburk.

Ladislav Sokolovsky, captain forward of the Czechs is adding: “We know that Zvezda had a lot of financial problems to be solved during this summer, but we expect that the tradition of the Serbian club did not disappear and they will bring young quality as they have been bringing before. We have to use the advantage of the homecourt in the first game of the season and make our fans happy.”


CRVENA ZVEZDA

Uslovljeni velikim delom i teškom finansijskom situacijom, na Malom Kalemegdanu su napravili veliki zaokret i sastavili najmlađu ekipu NLB lige. Trofejni klub u sezonu ulazi sa novim rukovodstvom, šefom struke, kao i radikalno promenjenom ekipom. Ni raspored nije išao na ruku crveno-belima, premijeru će imati u Češkoj, dok u drugom kolu gostuju u Podgorici. Ipak, svi u klubu su duboko uvereni da će igrati kvalitetnu košarku i dostojno reprezentovati Zvezdin dres.

„Želimo strpljivo i temeljno da idemo napred. Čekaju nas mnoga iskušenja, ali moramo da izdržimo. Navijači od nas traže pobede, mi ih takođe želimo. Ali, strpljenje je neophodno. Od momaka zahtevamo da radnu atmosferu sa priprema prenesu na parket u veoma jakoj NLB ligi. Verujem u ovaj tim, napravili smo odličan skauting. Konkurencija nikada nije bila veća. Iz tog razloga, naš cilj je opstanak. Šansu ćemo tražiti u Pioniru gde očekujemo veliku podršku sa tribina,“ istakao je Mirko Pavlović, generalni menadžer Crvene zvezde.

Tokom pripremnog perioda crveno-beli su igrali veliki broj mečeve u gostima. Jedan od razloga je i da u što kraćem roku prođu školovanje i bolje se spreme za start sezone.

„Naši igrači su spremni da daju maksimum, a za koji će to rezultat biti dovoljno, ostaje da vidimo. Sigurno da ne možemo nikome da pretimo, niti da pričamo o nerealnim stvarima. Ali, ćemo se boriti na svakom meču. Teži početak nismo mogli da imamo, odmah na startu gostujemo jednom od najkvalitetnijih protivnika. Nymburk je već dosta uigran, s obzirom da je učestvovao u kvalifikacijama za Euroleague. Biće to veliki ispit za naš mlad tim, ali i prilika da se igrači uvere koliko je NLB liga jaka. Imamo ideju o pobedi, sigurno ćemo se maksimalno boriti,“ komentar je Mihaila Uvalina, šefa struke Zvezde.
